P&L (profit and loss), explained

P&L is the running tally of what you’ve made or lost. The app always shows it signed and color-coded — a plus and bull-green for a gain, a minus and bear-red for a loss — so the direction reads before the figure. A real flat result is $0.00; a dash (—) means the number isn’t known yet, never a fake zero.

A worked example

Bought 10 shares at $50, sold at $58 → P&L +$80.

Where p&l (profit and loss) shows up in a journal

A trading journal is where this stops being a definition and becomes your own number. sizeforzero computes it from the trades you import or log, alongside the rest of your analytics vocabulary, and every figure in the app carries an (i) that explains it in the same plain English you just read.
