What is realized p&l?
The gain or loss locked in once you close a trade. Unlike unrealized P&L, it can’t change after the position is closed.

Realized P&L, explained
The moment you close a position, its P&L is realized — locked in and final. Realized P&L is what actually settled in your account and what every closed-trade stat (win rate, profit factor, expectancy) is built from. Open positions, by contrast, carry only unrealized P&L until you exit.
Where realized p&l shows up in a journal
A trading journal is where this stops being a definition and becomes your own number. sizeforzero computes it from the trades you import or log, alongside the rest of your analytics vocabulary, and every figure in the app carries an (i) that explains it in the same plain English you just read.
